Broaden your patient base by tapping into SMCDS’ excellent patient referral service; i.e., referrals to members when patients call our office or access our Find a Dentist feature on the SMCDS website (members can download the form to update your referral preferences here). Take advantage of opportunities to introduce yourself to the community by speaking at local functions sponsored in conjunction with SMCDS community outreach activities.
Peer Review. Resolve dentist / patient disputes concerning quality and/or appropriateness of dental care via the Peer Review process at no expense to either party, often avoiding costly litigation. The SMCDS Peer Review Committee is staffed by member dentists working in cooperation with and under guidelines set by CDA. Members can find the CDA Peer Review Manual here.
Social / Networking Events. Become acquainted with and cultivate lasting relationships with SMCDS colleagues at social events hosted throughout the year: New Dentists Socials and the ever-popular social hour at our monthly General Membership meetings.

Reduced Cost Seminar Room Rentals. The SMCDS seminar room occupies 1100 square feet in a scenic Redwood Shores complex, conveniently located near Highway 101. Free parking and restaurants are close by. Rental includes high-definition wide-screen-display projection screen, white board, podium, and flip-chart easel. The room is available from 8 AM to 10 PM daily and comfortably seats 35 classroom-style or 55 theatre-style. Full days are only $500, half days at $350, and two hours or less for just $150. SMCDS CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Our annual CE schedule is published at the beginning of each year in THE MOUTHPIECE and on the www.smcds.com/Upcoming Events calendar. Detailed information on individual speakers and presentations is added to the online calendar as it becomes available and on registration forms sent starting six weeks in advance via mail, email, fax, eNews, and our Facebook page – and are available online under Upcoming Events in convenient fillable PDF format. The smcds.com website accommodates online course registration and fee payment. Our program chairs rely on your feedback via course evaluations and welcome topic / speaker suggestions at any time.

These regularly scheduled gatherings provide an opportunity to meet, socialize, and dine with member dentists, hear distinguished speakers on relevant topics, view vendor exhibits of the latest clinical and business products, and for those who “play” the chance to win valuable drawing prizes.
GM Meetings are generally held the 3rd Thursday of the month 6 to 9 PM September thru May at Crowne Plaza Foster City. Plan ahead - our Fall meeting is a special event – held with great fanfare in interesting venues such as the Hiller Aviation Museum.
CPR Renewal Course
4 Core CE Units $60 Member Rate Includes Study Materials & Renewal Card / $75 Non-Mbr
Healthcare providers are required to renew their CPR certification every two years. Our 2 part CPR renewal classes are half online for your convenience which can be completed up to 2 weeks beforehand. The practical portion is held at the SMCDS office on Monday / Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 PM once or twice a month September through June. Students practice one-on-one with Adult and Infant manikins. Register early - class size is restricted by available equipment to 18. Our member rate of $60 – thanks to our dedicated staff of volunteer trainers – is among the lowest in the peninsula.
Dental Office Regulatory Compliance Training
6 Core CE Units $150 Member Rate / $200 Non-Mbr
The Dental Board of California requires all licensed dental professionals (DDS, DMD, RDA, RDH) to take approved CE courses in Infection Control (Bloodborne Pathogen Standards) and California Dental Law every two years for license renewal. Cal-OSHA requires employers to train their workers annually in Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, General Safety,
Emergency Response, and other standards based on the nature and size of your practice.
Ms. LaDonna Drury-Klein, RDA, BS teamed up with us to provide a convenient two-part one-day course to fulfill regulatory requirements, provide you and your staff with 6 units of Core CE credit for two 3-hour seminars packed with practical information in an enjoyable atmosphere. This is unlike other seminars you may have attended. Bring the whole office for a productive day of learning and fun. Lunch is provided.
